Living in an RV

Last year we decided to build our retirement home. To accomplish this goal we needed to first sell our house, then design the new one, then patiently wait until the new one was build. Our realtor asked us what we planned to do between selling one house and building the next. "Live in our RV", we said. Here it is the dawn of 2017 and we have sold our house, designed our new house and we are living full time in our RV. Just under 500 square feet of living space, two adults and four pets are waiting until we can move into our new house. Daily I get questions about how it's going. It's going great!

I lived in a 70 by 12 trailer twice in my life. First after college after starting my first job. It was a great way to build credit until I could buy a house. Second when my job was 90 miles from my permanent house and I needed a place during the week while keeping my home for weekends. The RV, I knew, would be different. First, it is smaller. Second, there is another adult and four pets. But....I am loving it. The simplicity of living it awesome.

That simplicity has allowed me more time for family and me. I love walking the dogs as I allows me to be alone with my thoughts to organize my day each morning and process the events of the day each night. I love having the kitchen and living room in close proximity so I can visit and cook at the same time. Cleaning takes all of 30 minutes leaving time to do more of the things in life I love.

As we spend what we think is the next 6 months waiting for the completion of our house we anticipate learning a lot about RV living.
